WHAT IS BETTER FOR MODULAR KITCHENS – PVC OR PLYWOOD?

PVC- POLY VINYL CHLORIDE is a polymer and widely used in pipes and other applications. Kitchens cabinets made with PVC are a major health hazard for many reasons.

PVC is poisonous and in a heated environment – kitchen temperatures are higher due to the cooking fire and PVC doors tend to leach gases in such an environment.

PVC is not recommended for any use in areas where food is cooked or served and is banned in many countries. However many people are taken for a ride by unscrupulous traders who dazzle customers with bright colours and lower costs.

modular kitchen materials like Plywoods are made by bonding together sheets of wood under pressure and is produced from natural materials. It has no negative effects and has no disintegration due to heat or strong sunlight and does not emit fumes.

Plywood ( kitchen cabinet materials ) is usually covered with a laminate or painted and these laminates undergo certification both within India and worldwide and reputed manufacturers comply with these regulations.

There are clear BIS (ISI) standards for plywood and good manufacturers use ISI-certified plywood in kitchens.

PVC is dangerous and may be attractive but should never be used when there is heat or sunlight or steam – all of which are there in kitchens.

There is no second thought- PVC should be avoided in kitchens totally.

At Do My Home – Interiors, we recommend ISI-certified plywood for all kitchen cabinetry to ensure durability, safety and long-term performance. Avoid PVC for cooking and food-service areas — invest in trusted materials that protect your home and family.
